The wonderful world of potty training!!!
SOOO, we started PT Derek 2 weeks ago and I am not sure how long this will end up taking. I have tried every suggestion given to me and he still won't tell me when he needs to go. He goes fine when I take him, he appreciates the treats that he gets, he's not even afraid of pooping in the potty, I just have to get him there in time. We have had full days with no accidents, even at nap time, but today was a bad day. He peed in his underwear 5 times! I couldn't believe how often he was going! He did tell me when he went, so I guess that's a hurdle. He even went poopy in the potty twice, but the second time he finished on the potty after I found a piece on the floor. (oh, what a luxurious life I lead:) If I have him run around without any underwear on he has an absolute fit. I just want him to start telling me he needs to go so I feel like I have gotten somewhere because I feel like there is no stopping now!

Oh, we are having PT fun, too! I wish you luck!
I saw that the other day! Yours is much younger than mine though, I have been putting it off for too long and I just want it to be over!!! I love your blog by the way!!
Hang in there girl. After 2 weeks and he's doing that good, you are SOOOO on the right track. I use to help train kids at daycare and you are in such good shape. Keep it up. And do you mind training my second child? I am just not up for it yet.
Oh dear, it's such a rollercoaster isn't it! Pat yourself on the back though, mine is still in Pull-ups at 29 months!!! I did read this great idea in a book. Set your kitchen timer for every 30 minutes and set him on the potty to try. I know, I know, you'd never get anything done or leave the house right?! But the book says if you do it for just a few days, it establishes a pattern for them or something... Good luck. I'll be visiting regularly to steal your ideas for our own PT battle.
I think it took me a full year with Hunter. He started showing definite signs of readiness at 18 months, it was a long road. It's hard to know what to do because you don't want to discourage them, but sometimes they're just not quite there. Rylie is still only 23 months but after only 2 month's of potty training she's almost completely accident free.
I did find that since we have tile floors, putting the potty chair in the living room was a big help. And with this one we are actually using the potty chair more since she's at the point to just go in and go by herself.
Good luck, and I hope yours gets the hang of it soon.
