Ear infections
I think Derek has another ear infection. He had one in October, on Christmas day, and while we were in Florida. I talked to his Dr. in October about tubes but at that point her record showed he got them every three months with croup in between. They usually don't do it unless they get them every 2 months. I feel like we are always at the Dr!!! Trust me, I would really rather NOT go the tubes route but when he gets ear infections his fever has been known to reach 1o5 and we have to give him Tylenol suppositories. They have had to ice him down in the hospital before. Tonight, for example, he was fine. We went to Church, he didn't act like anything was wrong but when I put him to bed he was hot. I took his temp and it was 102.5. This is usually his starting out temp so I will be up every 2 hours alternating between Tylenol and Motrin. I have done some research on tubes and it really just freaks me out. I have a nephew who has had a lot of ear problems and the thought of cutting the ear drum scares me. I think I may ask about having his tonsils and adenoids out instead to strengthen his immune system. She has already told me that he will need to have this done in the future so I would rather go that route instead. Plus, Leah had it done when she was 4 so I know what to expect. I know that tubes are a simple VERY common thing and we may just go that route. All I know is that something needs to be done!
